PG Astray [Red Frame] - Photo final pick

Ok, so there you have it.. PG Astray [Red Frame] Final pick on studio photos!
I want to thank everyone for giving me input on picking the final 8!

so here you go.. all extra large images!

I came across Lightning Ace's Gundams blog on posing MG Astray Red Frame..
I was so keen to give it a try using PG. but sadly.. none of the poses can be done with PG.
MG Astray does win in terms of articulations.

*Special thanks for Gundam Guy for the awesome featuring post.

  2. Hi, great job. How did you paint the manipulator digits? Can they be disassembled and put back together again without breaking something?

  6. Hi There,

I owned a Astray Red Frame MG, and I loved the articulation of it.

I am considering getting a PG, but I saw that you mentioned the PG is unable to do all the pose MG does?

    1. Hi there,

Well, the PG Astray reused PG Strike's inner frame, and by doing so, PG Astray's armours are being designed to cope with it. The most obvious parts are the legs because of the larger armours and feet. Articulations slightly reduced to compensate.

I.e. Astray's knees bend about 160degree while Strike can do 170degree; Astray's legs can do only 90 degree before the armour skirts get in the way, while Strike can do more.

So compare to a perfectly designed MG Astray, legs articulation do make slight difference.
If you can get pass the leg's articulation and see the fantastic details of the PG, I highly commend the PG.

  7. Hi there,

I was thinking to get either a PG strike or a PG Astray Red Frame. Any comments which is a better option.

    1. Hey there,

Both of them are the best PG out there, IMO. It's just because the inner frame has the most human -like articulations. PG Strike obviously has better articulations from precious comment, so I'll compare other aspects.

PG Strike has an Aile pack designed for it. It's a plus if you are looking to buy the Aile pack. And with the PG Action base stand, it's the only PG that has a stand by default. (You can get try to get the limited PG 00 raiser's stand, but it is expensive. Or a bootleg version, if you don't mind a lower quality, still good)

PG astray, although it is designed to cope with Strike's inner frame, bandai has done a fantastic job! Despite the discounted articulations, the Astray has a LOT of muscle-like moving parts. Anything you move, will trigger others. I think it is a huge plus better than Strike.

In the end, it really comes down to personal preference. Both are great. But if you ask me to decide which is better, I'd say PG Strike for its original design of the inner frame.

  8. In your pictures, you show the PG Red Frame with both the Gerbera Straight, and Tiger Pierce, but actually the kit only comes with the Gerbera Straight...unless you were lucky enough to buy the special limited time only kit that came with the bonus parts. :)
